GETTING THE
LEAD OUT
Did you know that ordinary PVC cables contain Lead &
Cadmium? Both of these are toxic substances. Constant exposure to Lead
can lead to anemia and harm to the nervous system, the reproduction
system and the kidneys. Constant exposure to Cadmium and Cadmium
compounds has been shown to cause cancer.
Other Industries Has Complied
Whose Next?
Lead (Pb) is poisonous to humans. Its harmful effect was
discovered over 30 years ago. The toy industry was among the first to
take action, as Lead in the painting of toys could easily be migrated
from the toys and be ingested by children. Various standard were
established (ASTM F-963 in the USA and EN-71 in Europe) to limit the use
of Lead in paint and similar surface coating. The petroleum industry
and the automotive industry worldwide have been required to remove Lead
from their gasoline and petroleum products.
Now,
some countries and states are requiring the Lead
- out of
PVC based products.

What is LSOH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen)?
PVC compounds have been utilized for decades as
insulation material in cable
manufacturing
due to its excellent mechanical and chemical properties, unfortunately
with harmful side effects such as corrosive gases, hazardous fumes,
toxicity & cancer risk. LSOH ECO-Green cables have been designed to
comply with new stringent legislation, particularly throughout USA
(California), Europe and Japan. LSOH materials are the best solution in
manufacturing Halogen-free products and to replace PVC. They are free of
Chlorine, Fluorine, Bromine and Iodine.

Who
Is Supporting ECO-Green?
- The
European Community is requiring 100% compliance by member states to EU
2002/95/EC by 2006.
-
-
California Prop 65 requires immediate compliance or notification to
end-users.
SONY Corporation of
Japan
is one of many companies behind the ECO-Green cable. Every effort is
being made to incorporate the use of these ECO-Green cables into the
design of Sony products.
